1. Information We Collect

TeachPen does not require an account. To activate and verify licenses, we process only the email address used at purchase and an anonymous device identifier for license verification (a hashed machine id). Annotation data and in-app usage content stay on your local device and are not sent to TeachPen servers.

1-1. Release Notification Sign-ups

If you sign up to be notified when an unreleased platform becomes available, we store your email address along with the site language (used to choose the language of the notice) and a referral source value. We use this only to send a single release announcement for that platform, never for advertising or newsletters. Once that email is sent, we delete your email address (a record with no personally identifying information may remain for sign-up counts). To have your address removed before the announcement, write to hello@teachpen.com.

1-2. Institution Inquiries

To respond to institution inquiries, we process the organization, contact name, reply email, requested seat count, and message. The inquiry is delivered by email through Amazon SES and is deleted when it is no longer needed to handle the inquiry, unless retention is required by law.

2. Payment Information

Payment information such as card details is collected and processed by Paddle, the Merchant of Record. TeachPen does not access that information. Paddle's Privacy Policy applies to payment processing.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to activate and verify licenses, confirm purchases, provide support, and send purchase confirmation or verification emails.

4. Email Delivery

Verification codes, purchase confirmation emails, and support-related emails may be sent through Amazon SES.

5. Retention

License information is retained for the duration of the license. If you request deletion, we will delete the information unless retention is required by law.

6. Third Parties and Processors

TeachPen does not sell personal information. We use processors only as needed to provide the service, including payment processing by Paddle and email delivery through Amazon SES.

7. Your Rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting hello@teachpen.com.

8. Cookies and Visit Statistics

The TeachPen landing site uses only essential cookies, such as language preference cookies. We do not use advertising tracking cookies.

We may use a privacy-friendly analytics tool (Plausible Analytics) to improve the site. It sets no cookies and collects no personally identifying information, recording only aggregate figures such as page views, referral source, country, and device type. It does not track individual visitors or link your activity across other sites.
